The Great Self-Robbery of the present moment:
We are living in an era of self-robbery with the systematic theft of the present moment. Our minds have become frantic, oscillating between the shadows of the past and the anxieties of the future. We consume sixty-second videos, eat while running, and move at a pace that renders our own lives a blur. We forget what we did last week—or even yesterday—within seconds. Everything is lost in the fog.
Where are we? When was the last time we allowed ourselves the luxury of simply being? To drink a cup of tea and truly taste its complexity? To spend time with a loved one and actually listen, feeling the weight and texture of the space around us?
Why do we constantly push away the “now”? For many, sitting with the present feels demanding, perhaps even impossible. Without consistent training, the mind lacks the strength to remain still. Nature, however, offers us a vital lesson: if the surface of a lake is choppy, we cannot see its depths. Only on a peaceful, calm day can we see all the way to the bottom. Nature teaches us that to find inner contentment, we must slow down and go deeper.
To reach those depths, we have ancient, proven tools: Pranayama, Yoga, and Meditation.
In our practice, we learn to stay with whatever arises. If fear surfaces, we work with fear. If pain appears, we welcome it. If joy bubbles up, we embrace it. We acknowledge that today is simply “like this,” and that is enough. It is okay for things not to be okay.
We practice staying in the moment without robbing ourselves of the experience. We finally give ourselves permission to feel the breath, inhabit the body, and find peace within the mind.
