It’s time to shine

It’s time to shine.

The second niyama described in Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras is called Santosa. The most common translation is contentment. We can see it as the Joy of Light for Life, an inner radiance always shining with appreciation for just being here and celebrating the day, no matter what. It is not just about having parties, jumping around, and singing all day long. It is about acceptance, contentment, and gratitude to the Divine Energy even when things are not going the way we want, and choosing to be happy anyway.

It is all about practising yoga outside of the yoga studio. So, when someone is angry at you, instead of picking up this contagious disease of anger and spreading it among all beings and things around us, we practise equanimity, a peaceful state of mind.

Sometimes it helps to use the simple phrase: “Today is like this” and open the heart to whatever arises in the moment. Energy is constantly changing, and the light is always shining, even though sometimes it is covered by the perceptions of our minds.

This is not a state of weakness; it is a state of awakening. It is a state of connection, sharing, and spreading Light. It is time to shine and be Light.
