Connection

We all yearn for a connection to Higher Source, family, humanity, and nature. This longing is woven into our emotional DNA, and we instinctively understand that connection brings happiness. Yet for some reason, we fail to see the obvious truth in front of us: we are disconnected from ourselves, our bodies, and our hearts. Each morning, we wake up and put on not only our clothes but also past and future thoughts and emotions, carrying our own and others’ burdens on our shoulders. Can we truly call ourselves wealthy and healthy if we don’t find 10 minutes each day for silent meditation, feeling our hearts and whispering, “I am listening, and I love you”? Can we claim wisdom and intelligence if we don’t know the bodies we inhabit our entire lives? A daily yoga practice guides us back to ourselves. It need not be long or strenuous at first; it simply requires consistency. Yoga helps us reconnect with our bodies and helps us use them wisely in daily life. When we learn to move with ujjayi breath, the more present we are and the less we need to muscle our way through the practice. Being one with the breath opens the heart and we find ourselves embracing the profound peace of the present moment. In this state, we are connected to ourselves, the Divine Source, all beings, and life itself—and that is the magic. We are simply being!
