Recently I saw an amazing video illustrating the difference between a limited mindset and an abundant mindset. Someone with a limited mindset was offered a simple bag for 10,000 euro and they responded with a definite no. Someone else with an abundant mindset was offered the same bag for the same price and before deciding yes or no, they established what was actually inside the bag as perhaps something of great value could be there?
The point of the story is that when we focus only on the physical form of yoga, thinking we just need flexibility and strength, the true depth of yoga is missed. Actually the only flexibility and strength we need is in our mind, then the body follows. The depth of yoga is described by Patanjali as Chitta Vritti Nirodha. It is an individual discipline which leads to the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. So what value can we put on inner peace, a fully awake consciousness and feeling one with the whole of creation? Yoga is a form of prayer to the Light, a devotion to Peace, a realisation of the power of breath, cleaning up our habits and burning karma. Practicing yoga we return home to our True Self, where deep peace, love, acceptance, kindness and gratitude reside.
