Every teacher needs their own teacher.
Every year for 9 years I visited India to practice with my absolute favourite yoga teacher Vinay Kumar. It was a luxury to be his student and my whole life was all about practice, eat, sleep, repeat which led to an emptiness in the mind to the point of forgetting my own name. Then an interesting time arrived in 2020 with a lot of really diverse and deep workshops available online. It felt great but risky at the same time. I lost myself trying to learn everything from everyone, completely forgetting the old saying, ‘When you want to find water you dig deep in one place, not superficially in many holes’. I couldn’t get why I was not satisfied and why I was still searching and searching. The workshops became the equivalent of excessive shopping. Recently I was talking with a friend about the influence of energies and powerful planetary cycles. This reminded me to reconnect with Vinay, my main source of inspiration, at least online. It’s important for me to surrender my ego and bow in honour of the lineage.
As I hear his voice and practice with him online, everything changed within me and around me. My mind suddenly felt peaceful and clear. My body responded with tears of joy and serenity. I arrived home once more. Thank you Vinay Kumar for being such an inspirational teacher.
