Control
The need for control is sometimes born from fear, and this expression of darkness prevents us from trusting the Universal flow of love and support for our chosen path. When we haven’t fully released past control issues, we inevitably attract similar situations in order to heal more completely which requires us to open our heart a little bit more. One key to freedom is through courageously allowing feelings to surface and simply letting things be. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us that God is the Source of everything and that nothing can be bad if we use it for purpose and wisdom. It can be life changing to make a devotional leap in our psyche to trust that only great things will happen when we allow ourselves to be in the flow state. Yoga teaches us not to be so attached to asanas, but to focus more on observing and fine tuning our sensory spectrum so we can continue to practice the same goals in every day life. By observing people’s behaviour and events with non-attachment, we begin to feel lighter and unburdened from habitual tendencies to criticise and control. Shaman Durek reminds us of the old saying “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body”.
